Is Mozarteum hard to get into?

Internationally famous: ≈ 8 % acceptance rate for piano and voice. Audition required, recordings often pre-filtered. Bring repertoire prepared a year in advance.

Can I commute Salzburg → Vienna for studies?

2:22 train each way; possible 1–2 days/week with the Klimaticket but no one does it for full degrees.

Bachelor in English at PLUS?

Some — Communication Science, Geoinformatics, certain Master programmes — but most bachelors are German B2 minimum.

Universität Salzburg (PLUS, Paris-Lodron) — 18 000 students. Humanities, sciences, theology, law. Five campuses across the city.
Mozarteum — ≈ 1 600 students. Classical music conservatoire of world rank. Also drama, music education, dance.

Universities of applied sciences

FH Salzburg (Urstein, near Hallein) — 3 000 students. Business, engineering, design, multimedia.

Private universities

Paracelsus Medizinische Privatuniversität (PMU) — medicine + nursing science. Tuition ≈ €13 800/year.

Application

PLUS, Mozarteum: 1 March – 5 September for the winter semester. FH Salzburg: rolling admissions until quotas fill (most close late May). Mozarteum auditions: January–February for the next September intake.

Language

Most bachelor programmes German B2/C1. Mozarteum and several Master programmes accept English-only.
